The fringe shape stability of fiber ring resonators that incorporate an orthoconjugate reflector (OCR) is discussed. A resonator with a 90° polarization rotation and an OCR displays a stable fringe shape upon reflection, independent of the input polarization and of the loop birefringence. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
