Image theory for an interface between two bi‐isotropic (BI) media is introduced for the electric and magnetic static source. It is seen that for an electric or magnetic source alone, the images for the reflected fields and the transmitted fields are in general combinations of electric and magnetic sources. The method can be generalized to problems of muttilayered bi‐isotropic media, for example, for the microstrip geometry with a chiral or bi‐isotropic layer. © 1993 John Wiley & sons, Inc.
