The potential use of planar periodic gratings, consisting of thin conducting strips, as frequency scanned gratings is investigated. The analysis is based on a modal expansion method, Floquet's theorem, and the method of moments. Experimental and theoretical results are presented. © 1992 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
