In this article the analytical solution of physical optics in near field for a perfectly conducting body is obtained. The mono‐ and bistatic cases are shown and compared with other theoretical techniques. This approach is new und permits deeper investigation of a variety of problems such as radar cross‐section (R.C.S.) and antenna calculations or measurements. © 1992 John Wiley & Sons. Inc.
