In this article we present a method for easy calculation of allowed monomode fiber parameter tolerances which guarantee operation around the zero dispersion wavelength. A statistical method is used to determine the relative tolerances δΔ/Δ, δa/a, and δλ/λ, for the specified minimum fiber bandwidth. Numerical results are presented for a step‐index fiber.
