A tapered interdigital equal‐split coupler has been designed and fabricated in a planar structure. Multioctave bandwidths of equal power splits and 0° and 180° phase differences were obtained. Over 20‐dB improvement of the second harmonics generated from a Class‐B GaAs amplifier using this coupler as a combiner was demonstrated. This approach has potential applications for GaAs MMIC amplifiers and mixers.
