Attempts are being made to investigate techniques to improve the cross‐correlation peak heights of a joint‐transform‐based correlator while reducing the corresponding dc peaks. Two such techniques, namely, preprocessing the reference image and postprocessing the joint Fourier‐transform image, are investigated, and the corresponding simulation results are compared.
