In this article an efficient and accurate quasi‐TEM analysis of a pair of boxed coupled microstrips with slotted ground plane is carried out. The properties of directional couplers based on this structure are theoretically studied. A synthesis program has also been developed, and an example of graphic design charts is provided for a low permittivity substrate.
