A simple analytical model is developed for a slow‐wave monolithic microwave variable phase shifter. Propagation characteristics of the phase shifter were evaluated using this model and were found to be in excellent agreement with the experimental results of Neidert and Krowne. The model permits changing various parameters to optimize phase‐shifter performance with relative ease.
