A cylindrical waveguide with harmonically varying radiius can be used to convert selectively the TE mq mode to the TE mp mode. The characteristics of this waveguide mode converter in the presence of the parasitic TE mr mode are treated, and a modified design for the improvement of the performance of this mode converter is presented.
