The use of conical tips to improve the impedance matching of cassegrain subreflectors

Retrofitting cones to the vertex of a subreflector in a Cassegrain antenna is shown to give worthwhile improvements in impedance match with little or no decrease in efficiency. This is of particular interest for improving the axial ratio of existing dual circularly polarized antennas.
