A cylindrical waveguide with an axis having a weak harmonic variation about a straight line in a plane can be used to convert selectively the TE pq mode to the TEp+1,r mode. The performance of this waveguide converter in the presence of a parasitic mode is examined and certain aspects of the optimization of this distributed mode converter are discussed.
