Theoretical and experimental results are presented for a square microstrip patch employed as a coupler at 13.2 GHz. The square patch exhibits equal power‐split in phase quadrature over a 7% bandwidth, 5.0 dB coupling, and 17 dB isolation. The effect of packaging on the performance is investigated.
