Analytic closed‐form expressions for even‐ and odd‐mode characteristic impedance and effective dielectric constant for shielded coupled microstrip lines, either having or not having a tuning slit in their back metallization, are obtained using conformal mapping techniques. The effect of the existence of this tuning slit as well as that of the upper shielding is studied.
