For the computation of the characteristic impedance of curved microstrip transmission lines, a semiempirical expression is derived. This expression is applied to the design of a ring‐type power divider and the performance of the device is compared to another power divider designed using Wheeler's expression. Significant improvement in device performance is achieved.
