In this article a new structure is proposed to substitute radial‐line filters, particularly for low rejection‐frequency applications, where the cross section of these filters becomes inconveniently large. A very accurate method based on modal analysis and the GSM concept of generalized two‐port discontinuity is applied to calculate the frequency response of both radial‐line and folded radial‐line filters. Agreement with data available for standard radial‐line filters is excellent. A detailed study of the influence of the different geometrical parameters on the response of folded radial‐line filters is also included.
