Pure bending‐induced birefringence in optical waveguides: A simple analytical expression

The local field in the bent optical waveguide and the birefringence caused by the pure bent geometry effect are investigated. It is found that, this birefringence is independent of the local field in the bent guide and only dependent on the unperturbed propagation constant and the radius of the guide bend.
