A miniaturized dual‐mode ultra‐wideband (UWB) bandpass filter employing a single sector substrate integrated waveguide (SSIW) is proposed and designed. In this design, a SSIW cavity with a significantly small angle 2.2° introduces the filter to be realizable for UWB characteristics, and further miniaturized size. Moreover, this structure permits the locations of the transmission zeros to be controlled independently, thus enhancing the proposed filter selectivity and flexibility. This filter with great performances has been designed and fabricated, and it possesses obvious advantages of low loss, compact size, and wide bandwidth.
