This article presents a ring‐shaped antenna array for multistatic microwave breast imaging. The antenna element uses a compact double‐ridged waveguide probe operating from 3 to 6 GHz, and its radiation performance is experimentally verified in a lossy immersion liquid with a pass loss of −0.67 dB/mm. Eight antenna elements are integrated into a 150 mm diameter ring structure that sufficiently surrounds the breast. The ring structure has a 15 mm groove between the antenna elements to reduce the electromagnetic influence of the ring wall to less than 0.5 dB.
