A technique to miniaturize the size of a slot antenna is presented. Square‐shaped loops, dumbbell‐shaped slots, and strips together with small circular patches and shorting vias are loaded on the two ends of the main radiating slot for the antenna miniaturization. A step‐by‐step analysis of miniaturizing the antenna is provided. It is shown here that the antenna can be miniaturized, that is, the resonance frequency is lowered, by over 56% using this technique. This antenna is realized into a prototype, and the size reduction is verified experimentally.
