A compact and cost effective multislot type electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structure for high noise isolation in ultra‐wideband applications is proposed. The proposed multislot type structure is a hybrid EBG structure with multislot in an alternating impedance EBG unit cell to achieve both the excellent noise isolation and the bandwidth improvement of the noise suppression. This type of the hybrid structure shows a high noise suppression ability of above −40 dB in an ultra‐wideband stop frequency range from 3 to 20 GHz. The performance of the proposed multislot type EBG structure is evaluated and verified by comparing the simulated and measured results.
