This article presents an oscillator‐free pulse generator using direct digital‐to‐impulse technique. The pulse generator is based on an all‐digital phase discrimination circuit fabricated in a standard 65 nm CMOS process. A 55.6 mV output pulse with an 18.9‐ps full width at half maximum can be achieved. The testing prototype consumes 0.72 mW in 8 Gb/s input data rate, suitable for low‐power ultrahigh speed wireless communication.
