In this article, a new mechanical tuning of Eighth‐Mode Substrate Integrated Waveguide (EMSIW) resonator antenna at microwave frequency is proposed. The resonant frequency of the EMSIW is tuned when introducing a metal screw in different positions of air holes. Numerical analyses were performed using the commercial electromagnetic simulator: Ansoft HFSS. The variation of the resonant frequency when changing the position of the screw on the entire edge of EMSIW is investigated. The radiation patterns, radiation efficiency, and gain are investigated in both E‐plane and H‐plane. In order to validate the simulated results, the proposed concept is designed, manufactured, and measured as an experimental example in three different positions of screw. The experimental results show a homogeneous agreement with the simulation. Simulation and measurements agree with tuning range of the resonator up to 3.3 GHz.
