This article presents a dielectric waveguide, operating at 18 GHz that can sustain 40 kV DC voltages and can be used to feed microwave ion sources. The metallic‐to‐woodpile waveguide transition optimization gives a very low maximum insertion loss of 0.3 dB over a 3.75% bandwidth.
