A set of fractal microstrip patch antennas having a modified Sierpinski Gasket geometry is explored and compared with a genetically optimized patch. The resonant behavior, radiation patterns and the box‐counting dimensions of the antennas have been investigated in order to understand the miniaturization properties. Finally, the Sierpinski‐based antennas have been compared with a genetic optimized antenna.
