In this letter, an ultra‐compact, wide‐band, four‐port antenna, integrated within the ATSC receiver housing for indoor reception of TV broadcast is presented. The four ports with moderate directivity are used to attenuate interferences and mitigate indoor multipath fading. The antenna hybrid topology is inspired from the Annular Slot Antenna (ASA) and the wide band printed monopole. The antenna is printed on an FR4 substrate with total dimensions of 280 × 280 × 1.2 mm 3 . It covers both high‐VHF and UHF TV broadcast bands in the US, with an S11 < ‐6 dB and a mean total efficiency of 18.5% in the VHF band and a S11 < ‐10 dB and a mean total efficiency of 52.9% in the UHF band. By switching between the four beams, a very good omni‐directional coverage is achieved in the horizontal plane. The antenna simulated performances are thoroughly analyzed and validated via measurements. The antenna was also integrated in a product and system tests for the indoor reception of TV broadcast in real field conditions revealed very promising performances.
