In this article was presented a method for optimal location of the “virtual” antenna array elements, based on obtaining a surface map of the same field phase distortion, averaged over the set of frequencies and azimuthal coordinates. This method does not require information about geometry and material properties of the antenna array carrier body, and can significantly improve accuracy of mobile radio direction‐finding systems.
