Abstract A proof of concept of a dual mode filter based on ridge gap waveguide cavity is presented by introducing perturbation to one of the first two degenerate modes. Rectangular, circular, and elliptical shaped perturbations are investigated. The one with elliptical perturbation was fabricated and tested. Good agreement between measured and simulation results was observed.
