A dual band Gysel power divider (PD) with high power dividing ratio based on the defected ground structure (DGS) is presented. Three open ended stubs are added to the conventional Gysel PD to achieve dual band property. Closed‐form design formulas are derived by using the circuit theory and the transmission matrix theory. For verification, a prototype operating at 0.9 and 1.8 GHz with the power dividing ratio of 10 is fabricated and tested. The measured results show a reasonable agreement with the simulated ones.
