A novel and compact, broken heart shaped patch antenna is designed for UWB applications. The proposed antenna is composed of a broken heart shaped patch, 50‐ohm line fed and slotted ground plane. The antenna is imprinted on an FR4 material which has a depth of 1.60 mm and the relative permittivity of 4.4. The reported antenna is compact with the dimension of 30 mm × 18 mm × 1.6 mm. The reported antenna is simulated by both HFSS and CST and measured after the fabrication of the prototype design. The results show that the reflection coefficient covers the band ranges from 2.90 to 10.70 GHz (115%) with VSWR ≤ 2. The reported antenna achieves a maximum gain of 5.28 dBi with a considerable efficiency. The result shows the stable radiation pattern over the entire UWB frequency band.
