Abstract The multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna consists of two printed inverted‐F antennas whose interelement distance is 7 mm. The isolation of the MIMO antenna is improved since the ground plane is modified to achieve a pattern diversity effect. The measurement results, such as impedance bandwidth, mutual coupling coefficient, radiation pattern were identified as having good performance. The MIMO antenna is further evaluated with an evaluation criterion that includes correlation coefficient and diversity gain, and results indicate successful isolation and diversity performance. All of the results demonstrate that the proposed MIMO antenna is compatible with wireless communication products.
