In this article, a negative index metamaterial with two components analysis for C‐ and X‐band operations has been presented. The proposed metamaterial is designed on the epoxy resin composite with woven glass fiber and this epoxy resin formation processes are also explained step by step in this study. The unit cell structure has two arrows and a metal arm is connected to the two arrows that look like a double arrow shaped metamaterial. A Finite Integration technique based CST Microwave Studio is used to figure out the scattering parameters and the designed structure is investigated in the both x‐axis and z‐axis directions. The proposed metamaterial exhibited negative refractive index characteristics with wide bandwidth in S‐, C‐, and X‐band for x‐axis wave propagations. Besides, microwave spectrum in C‐ and X‐band for z‐axis electromagnetic wave transmissions. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 59:1092–1096, 2017
