This article proposes, for the first time, a general condition for the ladder network prototype with equally terminated resistances. A rigorous proof of this theorem is provided. Three fourth‐order examples are subsequently given to illustrate and verify the proposed theorem. The prototype network is then applied to shunt‐stub lowpass filters.
