In this article, a 2.4 GHz SiP radio module with embedded antenna suitable for various operation scenarios like in free space, on metal, and on body, is presented. The size of the whole module is 13.5 × 7.5 × 4.0 mm 3 . In addition to the antenna, the module includes matching and filter circuits implemented on IPD technology, as well as a radio transceiver. There are no ground plane or no ground plane opening limitations for the underlying electronics board increasing the usability and reliability of the SiP radio module. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
