This paper is intended to introduce a two‐arm Archimedean spiral antenna fed by a novel feed structure based on DSPSL (Double Sided Parallel Strip Line). A DSPSL provides an ease perpendicular matching network and an impedance transition between input impedance of a spiral antenna and system's impedance of 50 Ω in broadband frequency range. Measured and simulated VSWR and radiation pattern results show a good performance over ultra‐wide band from 2 to 20 GHz. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 58:1879–1883, 2016
