A 10‐GHz Substrate Integrate Waveguide (SIWG) slot array antenna prototype assembled on FR‐4 substrate is proposed in this article. Simulations were made for the SIWG slot array antenna and the optimized ones. A pair of each simulated antenna was then manufactured and assembled on a FR‐4 substrate. Results of assembled antennas showed good agreement with the simulated ones, and presents 96° aperture angle with 150 MHz bandwidth in a real indoor environment test set, confirming that the FR‐4 substrate can be used for wide‐band wireless digital communication system at 10GHz frequency. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
