This article presents the compact penta‐band microstrip antenna. The frequency bands of the antenna are WLAN 2.6 GHz (2.56–2.63 GHz), 3.0 GHz (2.94–3.05 GHz), WiMax 3.4 GHz (3.34–3.55 GHz), 4.85 GHz (4.81–4.92 GHz) and WLAN 5.3 GHz (5.27–5.34 GHz). The antenna is rectangular spiral shape and size of the antenna is 20 × 20 mm 2 . The structures are analysed using Ansoft HFSS v.11 based on Finite Element Method (FEM) and measured results satisfy the simulated results. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
