In this article, a wideband dielectric resonator antenna with relative bandwidth of 81.25% is proposed. The antenna is coplanar waveguide fed and is provided with two different dielectric loadings to obtain the desired results. The antenna has been fabricated using FR4 as a substrate and Roger RT/duroid 5880 and Roger RT/duroid 6010 as dielectric resonators with a total size of 42 × 36 × 6.6 mm 3 . The proposed antenna is suitable for wide‐band applications, has a rather uniform radiation pattern, and a high radiation efficiency throughout the operational bandwidth along with being low‐profile and small in size. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
