A very efficient design technique for sharp band‐notched ultra‐wideband (UWB) antennas is presented. All the design specifications, including enhanced pulse preservation for time‐domain signals and relative constant gains over the passband, can be simultaneously met. Besides, the proposed technique reduces the design effort of multi‐objective evolutionary algorithms by 98%. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 58:355–359, 2016
