A multiband uniplanar antenna is proposed for mobile handsets. The multiband antenna covers three frequency bands: 687–976 MHz for LTE700/GSM850/900, 1195–1246 MHz for GPS (L2), and 1423–7665 MHz for GPS (LI), GSM1800/1900, UMTS2100, LTE2300/2600, WLAN2.4/5.5 GHz, and WiMAX3.5 GHz. The uniplanar antenna consists of a meander ring, an inverted‐S monopole, and a subring, and is printed on a thin substrate, suitable for ultraslim smartphone applications. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
