A slot omnidirectional wide‐band antenna without stub tuning is proposed. The antenna is fed with a slot waveguide, performing from 1.9 to 6.6 GHz and gain from 2 to 5 dB over the bandwidth. One of the main advantages is the small amount of parameters of the structure to modify and optimize, reducing the design complexity. The idea emerges from a complement of an UWB planarized elliptical monopole. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 55:2658–2662, 2015
