ABSTRACT Variable optical signal delay devices composed of cascaded double ring add/drop filters and delay waveguides are designed and fabricated. In the measurement, variable time delay is observed in proportion to the number of delay lines. The experimental results exhibit the potential for the fabricated delay device to be applied to an optical code division multiple access encoder/decoder. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
