ABSTRACT In this article, two slot antennas with different feed are presented. First, a triple band Microstrip slot antenna with SRR shape ring and with simple feed is presented. The prototype antenna is designed for wireless communication such as IEEE 802.11(g/b/a), WIMAX, and GPRS application with linear polarization. The bandwidths are around 5.1% for 1.93 GHz (1880–1980), 35.4% for 2.75 GHz (2400–3100 MHz) and 28% for 5.7 GHz (4900–6500 MHz) for first antenna. Conversely, the second antenna shows circular polarization for WiMAX application and bandwidth around 5% (3.66–3.84 GHz). Simulation results show the effect of SRR layer on gain enhancement in comparison to conventional slot antenna. The antenna has bidirectional pattern with high gain for wireless applications. Here SRR and ring structure effect on gain improvement is noticed and in the other hand efficiency is studied for all structures. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
