A differential‐fed ultrawideband (UWB) polarization diversity antenna with dual band‐notched features is proposed in this letter for the first time. The antenna is composed of a smoothing square slot and two orthogonal differential pairs aiming to achieve polarization diversity operation across the UWB from 2 to 11 GHz. High differential port isolation of less than −40 dB is also obtained. Besides, the embedded C‐shaped slots on the main radiation elements are used to filter 5.5 GHz wireless local area network band and 8 GHz X‐band. A prototype has been manufactured and tested. Results show that the antenna will be promising for the application in UWB wireless communication systems. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 57:1084–1089, 2015
