A compact ultrawideband (UWB) antenna with three notch bands for polarization diversity applications is proposed in this article. Composed of two identical monopoles which can easily get UWB operation, the antenna delivers polarization diversity operation by placing the two monopoles vertical to each other, and high isolation is obtained without using any extra decoupling structures. Three notch bands aiming to avoid interference to the UWB system are realized by two different types of resonators. Furthermore, a four‐element UWB MIMO antenna is also presented. Both of them have great performance, making themselves good candidates for promising wireless polarization diversity communication systems. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
