ABSTRACT An all‐optical single‐sideband (SSB) frequency upconversion technique using a semiconductor optical amplifier Mach–Zehnder interferometer with an interferometric configuration was demonstrated for radio‐over‐fiber applications. 99 and 101 GHz optical SSB signals, which showed no power fading associated with fiber dispersion for transmission over a single‐mode fiber with a length up to 20 km, were generated. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
