ABSTRACT A simple waveguide vacuum port for hundreds MW pulse transmission at S‐band is proposed. It uses the series inductive post‐wall to improve the characteristics of the RF leakage attenuation and maximize the unit area of the vacuum port related with effective pumping speed. This type of vacuum port significantly increases RF leakage attenuation above −50 dB without RF electrical breakdown phenomena and provides simple structure to enhance the conductanceC wg − pof the waveguide vacuum port found to be around 0.7 C wgfor above −50 dB RF leakage attenuation. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
