An useful method to develop div‐conforming elements for the surface integral equation is presented. The elements are obtained by rotating curl‐conforming bases used in the finite elements method. The procedure, throughout the theorem of trace, transforms the Helmholtz decomposition for electromagnetic fields into Hodge decomposition for surface currents. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
