We report how the Wait's formulation for periodically loaded wire grids can be used to analyze bandstop lumped element periodically loaded vertical wire grid frequency selective surfaces. In particular, a novel exact analytical expression for the harmonic currents is derived in the case of a lumped element of infinitesimal length. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
