In this article, a new design of coplanar waveguide‐fed slot antenna with E‐ring radiating stub for wireless local area network (WLAN) applications is proposed. The operating frequencies of the proposed antenna are 2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz, which covers the WLAN bands. The measured results of the proposed antenna show that the impedance bandwidths are from 2.27 to 2.86, 4.85 to 5.35, and 5.65 to 6.05 GHz. The presented antenna has a small size of 30 × 30 mm 2 . A multifeed four‐element planar array was designed and simulated. It shows that the features of low‐profile, good return loss, and small mutual coupling are promising for multiinput multioutput applications. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
